Behind Embark

History

Embark MBA was born from my passion for helping candidates achieve their MBA goals after serving on Columbia Business School’s admission committee. I reviewed countless applications, interviewed candidates, managed the world-wide interview program, served as a waitlist manager, and managed the dual degree programs for the Law, Medical, and Journalism schools. Thereafter, I began my career in finance, with stints at a hedge fund, large bank, and venture capital. Despite this, I missed helping candidates craft their stories. I returned to the admissions world in a different role - consulting for friends and colleagues.

On the other side of the admissions journey, I saw gaps in the application process that I knew I could help bridge. The admissions process is hard to navigate alone; guidance around testing is limited, telling your narrative within the confines of a few essays and a resume is challenging, and how admissions committees make decisions can seem like a black hole. Embark MBA’s mission reflects these gaps - work closely with a small number of candidates to provide best-in-class advice and frameworks to yield positive admissions outcomes.

Since 2017, I’ve helped hundreds of MBA-hopefuls get accepted to top US and European business schools across full-time, executive, and part-time programs.

How I work

  • I believe that everyone, regardless of background or test scores, has the potential to gain admission to business school. As the first in my family to attend college, I understand the challenges of navigating complex admissions processes without guidance. Having sat as a decision-maker in admissions, I aim to be that expert guide.

  • I make my services accessible, not just for the top 10% of earners. On top of reasonable pricing for all, I offer need-based pricing for select clients.

  • There is no “one size fits all” approach to an MBA or EMBA application - I spend the time to deeply understand your story. Having a partner in crafting essays translates to better applications. After all, the strongest application is the one that sounds like “you”!

  • I prioritize fast turnaround times, often returning materials within 24 hours because I’m committed to your success, working evenings and weekends to support you.

  • Learn a bit more! Here are my annual Reddit AMA threads I’ve done: 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

“Here’s what sets Kelsey apart: the personal care and attention she pours into your application. Hit a writer’s block on a complicated essay question? She’s a call away. Feeling nervous before an interview? She’s got your back. Even during those late-night, last-minute application grind sessions, she’s there. You won’t find this kind of one-on-one focus at the larger firms.”
